Tkon
Tkon is situated on the southeast coast of the island of Pašman. It is a typical fishing village and a port, and is also called the “Gates to Kornati Archipelago”. In the village centre there are shops, green market, pharmacy, infirmary, post office, Catholic church, and a ferry dock. Visitors to Tkon can enjoy seaside walks or bicycle rides along the marked paths, as well as sightseeing of cultural monuments, churches, Benedictine monastery Ćokovac dating from the 12th century, as well as a Bysantine fort called “Pustograd” dating back to the 3rd century AD.
On the north side of the island the beaches are sandy. From the village of Ugrinić over Tkon and to the south there are seven sandy coves along a 3 km span. Their beauty and peaceful atmosphere are particularly suited for families with children. Public beaches are Vruljica, Južnja and Ugrinić. The seabed is rich in flora and fauna and ideal for scuba divers. Due to sea currents which frequently change direction, the sea is extremely clear and clean. The afternoon wind is a dream-come-true for every sail boat afficionado or surfer.
Don’t miss the gastronomic offer of the area based on specific traditional dishes. Beside a rich seafood menu, definitely worth pointing out are the Dalmatian prosciutto cured in the bora wind, local sheep cheese, special meat stew “pašticada”, roast lamb, and dishes prepared in the baking bell.
